New Toro Tx 1000 Wide Track

I assume that is wider than your tx1000 non-narrow?

I am getting that grapple at some point to replace my 36" Toro grapple. Can't see the advantage of the BMG. Do logs slide out of the grapple that are in a similar dia. to the picture?

ps...I could easily pick up and load that log with my grapple grabbing it by the cut sides.

My tx1000 is @ 42” so yes the grapple is a bit wider.

We rarely work with logs larger than that, but yes, it has its limits too.

1 aspect that of the BMG that hasn't been discussed is the rope bollard on the top. We use that mostly for pulling trees, but we also use it as a quick lowering device, it replaces the GRCS for limbs that need raised, and is handy for looping the handles of my tarp bag and hauling it to the trailer when we get it full. We also use it as an anchor for a speed line, as it is very easy to adjust the tension. I added another bollard on the other side to give us the option of lowering down the speed line- using one side for the anchor and the other side for the lowering line.

See pic...

Oasis...I think everyone is aware of the bollard but no discussion because of the obvious limitations of weight able to be anchored to a mini. Pretty useless for lowering but nice for dragging...which brings one to the mini porty I lash to my clam grapple. Very useful.

Also can't imagine the waste of space hauling TWO grapples around. One is all that is needed...me thinks it is the clam grapple as the best choice.

Agreed the listed WLL is low. But it does works great for lowering. I've lowered pieces big enough to slightly lift the front of the mini, with no damage to the BMG. Also, when doing storm work it is always nice to have another port-a-wrap

image.webp We chipped and stuffed most of a tree in here. 30"dbh Black Locust 75' tall. The butt log broke into three chunks when we fell it. Bout 5-6 yards of chips. Customer kept maybe two face cords of the easy wood. Anyways, the box height is tad over 6'. Can you load a trailer like this with a clam grapple? We have filled this entire trailer to the top with logs many times before. If we can pic one end of the log up, it's gonna get in. Pigs on the bottom, long skinnies up top. It's a 6' wide by 12' long 12k trailer that weighs tad under 4K empty. Most of our dump spots are 5-15 min away. Today 5.

While you are at it you may all just as well pretend you know what you are doing.

I could put that WHOLE piece on my low boy 20' flat dump with my superior grapple ....probably not with your cheaper inferior free rotating BMG...Big money gyp. Man are all your jobs that easy or do you guys just do the easy ones and leave the hard ones for us big boy tree guys?

you guys only have one option to load with whatever that thing is. with a normal dump trailer you can load into the back, right side, left side, and front. That thing seems real limited for tree work. Don't you have a chip truck?

Tried both.....one is better....how much more open can one be? Really nonsensical to carry both like you do....and even more limiting of future growth to buy 2 implements that accomplish the same thing.

I have a chip truck. Can not carry the skid steer or logs...Never seem the need for it. Got a deal on it when I thought I'd use it...The dump trailer with the box covers all the bases.

so big boy... You actually take your wood away? Most of our big wood is taken away for free from my little friend here. 40' reach 20' flat bed can pic 8k next to the deck. You just could not compete if you were taking the wood away. The bigger the tree, the happier this guy is. The rest of our jobs, I just leave a pile by the curb and one of the other local tree guys, probably like yourself comes by and cleans up. I make more money cutting trees down then cleaning them up. Go figure.

Maybe you should move up here and give me a run... Cause no one else is. I get all the trees no one else even wants to give a price on. All the big contractors, towns and cities hire me to work with their crews on the biggest nastiest trees around. We don't even have to clean up most of the time.

You don't even have a crane son....you couldn't come close to competing with my game. (75' bucket too). We only work in high end neighborhoods...you don't go leaving big turd logs all over the curb and drive away thinking you are done here. Maybe "nobody gives you a run" cause that turf is not that desirable? Just sayin. There is a house right under this td too.

Yup, around here you have to roll in and roll out. Cant leave logs behind. I tried that and it sucks. Now you have to work around someone else's schedule. Plus, I like to be the one to see the job all the way through. The dingo's are cute, but a log truck is much nicer. Unless you have a crane to load big wood into the back of a trailer.
I like options. I like to look at a job and know that I have many tools to get it done. I have yet to find any method faster than a crane and log truck. IMO. Thats whats great about different markets. Use the tools you have avail be and make it work. I know climbing crews with just chip trucks and chipper that make more in a day with that equipment than I make with my all my big iron. Its just their market allows it. What works for one will not work for all.
