New to treebuzz, new to nashville

Hey folks, new member here. After about five years working for an arborist in Asheville, NC I'm packing it up and moving to Nashville. Going to miss the close knit community of arborists that exists here. And the beer too, of course, but that's a topic for another thread. Anyhow, tree fanatics out there that live in the Nashville area, how's the community? Any events, get togethers, or other points of interest for a fellow tree geek to keep an eye out for?

Before moving back 'home' to Minneapolis I lived in AVL.

Did we meet?

I'll ring in too...AVL is a lot like a small, warmer, MSP! Nice city and region.

Doesn't Jeff Cochran live in BNA/N'ville?

Welcome to TreeBuzz!

I was in Nashville last year... didn't get to go to the Grand Ole Opry, but next door to the the motel there was the Grand Ole Putt-Putt Golf & Go Carts... looked pretty cheesy, to me, so took a pass on that one, too...

Worst cell phone coverage I've ever experienced. You had to drive 3 miles or more, sometimes, to get a signal... then if you moved more than 3 feet you lost it, again...

@chainsawchap, have we met? Why are you leaving?

A few collaborative jobs come to mind, @Worthaug :) I seem to recall speed lining a hulking white pine down the side of town mountain with you and Royce couple years back. Anyway, never thought Id say it but I'm leaving AVL! My lady's starting a farm outside of Nashville and I'm tagging along, so to speak. Bittersweet...but let's get a beer before I go!

Hey, tom! I don't believe we've met but I'm sure we know a lot of the same folks, what with avl being so small :) Thanks for the welcome!

@chainsawchap, Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum! Man, am I ever jealous that you actually had the opportunity to work with Reed. And that even with all of your experience, you are just now coming into your physical prime.

Best of luck with the move to Nashville. I hope you find a great bunch of climbers and cutters there. I'd love to hear more about the community that you find there, once you make the move.

Also, any stories of your time in the trade that you find especially memorable, would be great to hear about, also.

Tim

No Max! Don't leave! Yes beers and scotch are mandatory!

Scotch??? Did someone say scotch?? Reed, I didn't know you had a taste for scotch or things may have been a little different at the GA TCC. You know it is a requirement that all invited judges are to donate a bottle of fine single malt to the TCC Chairperson. Charlotte is coming BTW.

@chainsawchap, Ha! It looks like Royce has a web page up about the very job that you and Reed both worked on together! How cool is that!

@TimBr Thanks for the well wishes! Also, thanks for the link, I forgot it existed! It's true, I've had the opportunity to work with some of the best. @Worthaug is a beast. I sure wont miss cleaning up his damned brush piles though! :)
