New Spiderjack Mods

Great addition. Now why oh why couldn't they just make it with a quick connection so that the clutch could be removed and installed mid-line like the lockjack. I'm no engineer but I have fabricated some of my own parts and it really doesn't seem like it would compromise anything to do this.

Have the full spiderjack 2.1 on the way from honeybros! Stooooked. Got two extra clutches, can't beat $12.50 a pop. Even with pricey shipping, saved a lot of money.

Tom, it's like Hollywood.. all about camera angles. :) The opposite side and the shop in the back are an obstacle course right now.

I wish it was mid-line attachable too. Maybe in the next evolution. There's gotta be a little planned obsolescence in the product development.. even for something this useful.

Ian, congrats you'll love it. You're gonna want a pulleysaver/USaver next. SJ + Pulley =

Measurements Measurements Measurements....
pm me Measurements when you have a chance. I think the rings purpose is just to rotate the the little loop runner so it is positioned with the flat against the SJ2 thus reducing the overall thickness in the hand. As far as ring diameter well who knows...maybe he got a deal on ebay ha ha ha.

Just for the velcro replacement and screw
not the lever

Just curious whats the need for mid line attachment ? Ive left my friction hitch on my rope for months without a need for removing it.

Thanks Adam! I've been running a pulleysaver since christmas, it's fantastic! I think it will be perfect with the SJ, with my vt hitch it binds pretty tight. I cannot wait to hand over hand and just FLY around the tree with even more freedom

I agree with Jimmy, I have the SJ2 on a line in the rope bag as well as my VT hitch set up on another rope in another bag. Only thing I have had to do mid line is take a break.....

Todd, I needed to grab some batteries for my caliper. I didn't forget about you. :) I'll have them probably tomorrow.

The mid-line attachment would be nice to me because you could SRT up, set up your pulleysaver/usaver, and then make an easy switch over to the SJ2. I also have a couple climbing lines, a 150 and a 80ish for smaller stuff. It'd be nice to switch without threading.

I climbed today with the new stuff. I have to say I didn't think I would care that much about the longer lever but it's nice. Your fingers do end up out further and it's easier to pull on it and manage your friction.

For these reasons and my full time climbing line has both ends eye spliced, for even wear and easy double tie ins. Sure there are ways to work around not being midline attachable but it also eliminates options. I like options.

I just srt up and carry my DDrt climbing line(sj2 aready on it) with me and transfer over once I get to to top. Then use the srt line to lower my pulley saver once I hit the ground.

First off THANKS!
second- I do the same as Jimmy, leave the SJ2 on the line with my spliced eye on the top krab then when I get to my TIP I just take the spliced eye off the krab, pass it through my friction saver rings and re-attach...done.

I agree that it would give more options to some as I have my short 120' PI tight eye spliced at both ends and just cant use the SJ2 on that line, but I guess since I have multiple lines I see that as more options for me. I had considered cutting one eye off, but just can't aagghhh, and as stated above I have other options. Hopefully they can make midline attachable to give more options to more folks!

when you start using it, you will answer your own question. you will see it makes no sense to try to include a pulley. It is not a dumb question, you just have to use it and then you will see.

I want to try the 2010 rope guide. i really like the pulley saver and how it has a modular design, but the gear head in me wants to try something new.

Im not following you. Why not include a pulley? Or am I just misreading?

Sj and pulleysaver, I can nearly ascend one handed hanging in free air. I know you run one too, just confused by your comment.

Rope guide at $397.95-vs-Pulley saver at $199.95.

I did not want to start a new topic, I was just searching for some feed back on those of you who have used both and which you feel is the better device for the $$.

I was a bit bewildered with above quote as well. Sorry if my original post was not more to the point.
