New solid Notch Wrench Tether

Want to buy one? I have one I've never used and want to sell it.
I don't own a zigzag, so no thanks. This was intended for the older zigzag and not as refined as I might hope.

This is more like what I'm thinking of. Designed by Some Guy.

I do apologize for coming down so hard on the fusion tether Nick. I understand why you guys made some of the design decisions you did, but I disagree with those decisions. I think the length of the fusion is gonna be the biggest turn-off with many working climbers. Any chance of a Shorty version if this thing in the future.. Their are legions of climbers who have moved on from longer hitches like the VT to shorter more compact hitches like the Michoacan or the Knut, and we demand and need a compact set-up....
I’m a big believer in short tethers, I created the original al shorty. Most people prefer the full length ones based on what they buy.

Cant say if there will be a fusion shorty or not, no idea!

There’s an opportunity there to make a very short tether for the ZigZag.

That's exactly what I'm thinking too. Perhaps something that integrates a carabiner with a short tether. I suppose a short tether product like this it could be easily be sold separately, or bundled with either a RW, pulley and hitch cord, or with a ZZ/RW combo.

Does anyone who watched the video on the tether and also has a rope wrench feel like they need this? That part kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

I don't mind some flexibility in my tether for times when I might be climbing up through a narrow crotch redirect and my hitch needs some bend.

Yeah, nothing's perfect. I like slight flex in my tether for those times when I'm sliding past a limb and the wrench/system is smeared/side-loaded against the limb.

Too much slop in the tether/wrench setup is a literal drag going up but slight flex is not an issue.

Yep. In theory a completely rigid tether sounds great, but my experience in the real world has taught me otherwise.

I've been a fan of flexible since the days of moving from plain cordage to a petzl draw, just before the 10" stiffy. I saw an oceans copy in the store the other day and it was super rigid, just a bit of flex.

Looks pretty big, but pretty and well made. ISC turns out some really nice gear.

A bigger wrench sounds awesome. At the end of the day when my hands are really hurting, I’m tempted to buy a piece of 1/2” Stable Braid for a climbing line.

Seen on the Arbsession Instagram feed - ISC's version, the Squirrel:

Also coming, a version of the Rope Wrench for 13 mm ropes.
Rope wrench specs on wesspur.com says its good for 10-14mm. I see a wrench used on Yale xtc fire (13mm) pretty often.

Yeah, but see the ad. Looks like a new version is in the works.
Ah. I missed the bottom of it.

I wonder why they'd take a device that works across (according to their ad) 2 mm (wesspur says 4mm) and optimize it for one size only. Especially since it falls within the specs of what is available.

Stupid question time. How many people are taking their system off of the rope DURING a climb? I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've done it in my career. I usually just unclip the system and pass everything over/around whatever I need to.
I do occasionally, when remote setting a redirect in a tight crotch and sometimes while remotely crossing a limb and don't want to bang up hardware and devices. But I don't climb with a wrench and wouldn't do this with a wrench. I'll either slide a roperunner off the end of the line and then back on, or midline detach/attach my unicender.

I like to switch between SRS and MRS regularly, and often in the same climb. This device doesn’t allow for that

I know its said to be for a secondary system, but I wonder if you could clip your rope into the top hole of tthe tether for MRS? Not as clean as on the hitch climber, but it would keep your splice or knot away from the hitch cord.

This assumes of course that the entire tether is rated for life support and not just the bottom hole. I do not own one and have not seen any literature to know if this is an option.
