New Senas

How are these things holding up in the cold rain, cold and snow? Sweat gotta be killer?
Aren't these things suppose to be boomless.
Why is Sherrilltree always two steps backwards? ::cachetada:

I like them...But not for 400 dollars each. There are 4 of us on the crew. Add that up!! I know, I know..."Safety" Well we use the original SENA's and they are great. Problem is, we tend to spend much of our day trying to get 4 of us to all mic up. Then one will go out, and it begins again.
What are others doing with new employees? I have replaced two employees who had the sena's. Man oh man, was their helmets rank. Kinda hard to pass that along to the new guy. Do I buy a new one every time I hire a new employee?

I feel you pain with getting them linked up. Normally the most we have is 2 but with the crane last week they used senas too. The ground guy bumped out so we didn't have to listen to the chipper and then I didn't have any comms until I got back down and reset everything. I listened to the chipper after that!
Maybe take the sena off and dip it in a bucket of soapy water? If no you could use Lysol which might help

The Sena don't have a mic switch? That has to suck listening to the chipper all day. I was debating on getting a Sena just for when I work with you guys.

I've have 2 full sets of 4, we've never had to reset any of them in 4 years, they are all still synced 1,2,3, crane guys headsets #4. The person (s) at the chipper either doesn't have one or bonks out when chipping then comes back in after chipping so we don't have to listen to the racket! I don't think I'd buy those for $399 which would amount to over $525 Canadian. Ours work just fine.

While these headsets make great sense for any number of jobs they do not negate the need to know and understand standardized hand signals and standard procedures. I think they would be great for training new employees and those employees who need to be reminded constantly.

I know of a case of a groundsman being hit by the ball because there was no communication (visual or auditory) between anybody on site.

That's why the ones everyone has been using are great. New guy or new helmet you can transfer the sena system over and replacement parts are cheap.

I'm not sure, I bet it is. I run the smh10R's the battery is external and replaceable. It also does conference intercom which I don't think the smh10's do either.

Maybe I'm not versed yet enough in setting them up. It really is a mute point though because I seldom work with more than one other intercom.

I'm curious to know if the earmuffs actually rotate all the way up and lock down on the helmet. The reinforced cable looks short. Also wondering how the mic stows away if at all.
