New model chainsaw

It looks pretty damn cool but I don't think the design could be very functional. It would be a little difficult to cut things on the ground being your one hand would be pressed against the ground. And I would amagine that would be wear it would be used most being it is for homeowners generally and not tree workers.

"even cutting overhead limbs is no problem. . ."

Was this thing designed by an ER doc? Seriously, looks like it would be impossible to make a proper cut in most cases. And at 6.5 lbs., they didn't shave half the weight off MY saw. But since it has to be plugged in, maybe it will at least keep some of the amateurs close to the ground (not that I'm counting on that in every case).

It says right in the text of the article that it's designed for storm cleanup (as opposed to "trimming"?). I'd have to say that I think it's an ingenious design for its intended purpose. Got some up-to-4" limbs laying on the ground after a storm and don't want to have to mess with pre-mix and saw kickback just to get them neatly on the fire pile, or curb-side if you're stuck living in town? This looks like the perfect tool for the average homeowner for just such use. Hell, if I was rolling in dough I'd probably pick one up myself. Likely the worst thing that can be said about them is that they're probably made in China.

Well, I just read the article again and can't believe how I must have glossed over "so even pruning overhead limbs is no problem"...

Auch, hé you guys.

I posted this picture and link thinking it was a hoax, but reading your replies it made me curious.

I think the machine is a lot better than the rest of the chainsaws designed for the ignorant public.

Think of what would happen if there was some overhead pruning done with a chainsaw without the double safety handles and the protection around the tip and not used (top or bottom) side of the bar.

It looked like a stupid flimsy sci fi contraption but after seeing the vids I think B&D has done a great life and limb saving job

Backyard branches don’t stand a chance against this chainsaw-scissor mutant"

Ha! That's the funniest thing I've seen in a while:)
