Greetings all.

Signed up a few months ago, and thanks to Southsoundtree for replying to me back then. Finally getting on here to say hello. (Please put me right if I'm doing this in the wrong place! I'm very new to forums and how to navigate them.

I'm currently in the process of self-educating myself in the world of arboriculture and have two jobs lined up. One is a pruning, the other a removal....can take them both slow and easy and nothing to damage nearby (other than myself).

I'm going to need advise along the road so I hope you all will help me out and put me on the right track. m(_ _)m

Looking forward to reading you all.

LOL..welcome...you're already part of an inside joke. And that's OK

There are plenty of arbos here willing to help you.

Find out where there is a competition close to you and go see every day. The cost will be made back in no time. Plus you will network with other arbos.

Hey cool! Welcome. I leaned sp much on this forum when I was first learning to climb trees. It's such a valuable resource.

I was just reading wikipedia about something unrelated, and learned about a Japanese tree I'd never heard of. Anyone seen/ planted/ worked on Betula grossa? Called cherry birch or 梓 azusa.

Would you care to educate us about some of the fun trees you see and climb in your day to day?
Definitely will do, Stumpsprouts - but at the moment I'm a complete novice. You'll have to give me some time to find my feet first. And this isn't my main line of work yet, either.

I do have a couple of jobs lined up (mentioned above) to occupy a few Sundays. The pruning is a white oak (シラカシ quercus myrsinifolia) with a possible limb removal. I asked the owners to put off the limb removal and see what they think of pruning first.

The other job is a full removal. I don't know what type of tree it is yet. My knowledge of trees and recognising them is a work in progress. It's pretty tall - maybe 90ft and the stem is perhaps 18 inches at a guess. I've yet to get up close because it's in bit of a jungle.

I do look forward to talking trees with you, though. Please bear with me!

Hey Sean Ruel, thanks for the welcome.

Definitely hoping to learn a lot from all of you.

Azusa is also used as a girl's name with the same Chinese character.
