New courant flexbee lanyard

One of these days, gotta start a new "certification" - call it something like "Sap Certified" (like the little mountain and snowflake symbol for winter rated tires?). Any lanyard adjuster I use these days has to be able to function in gobs of tree sap and be easy to clean with ethanol and a rag, or if it's hardware, then isopropanol and a rag. Other stuff than lanyards, not so much, but lanyard is so in contact with the tree so often that it's on my must list. Shizell is easy to clean and hitch is easy to take off and put a new one in use.

The ART 2 positioner does much better with sap than hitch based systems, but if you are doing conifers nonstop it will get buggered up.

I like courant products but this one does not spark joy in me.

Looks to me like they got out half of the sitback by not letting the hitch legs buckle on ascent but the two sections of the hitch still have slack between them = sitback if the hitch, not the pulley, is holding you (?)

Clever configuration. Run a hitch hiker knot and sitback is beat I bet.

I’ve settled on Art Positioner and Zillon with a side of Petzl’s little cam. I have a couple of lanyards with prussiks (prusiks/ prussics - :-) deciduous but they see occasional use some years. Conifer sap is my lot in life. Sigh.

I’ve been using a prusik this past year since the handle on my ART came off a couple years ago.. I never bothered to look it up, but I got the replacement handle last week since my prusik stopped functioning after just a couple sappy pines. So this is fresh on my mind I suppose.

Ps I had to google the correct spelling of prusik, I never had it right. It is after Karl Prusik, Austrian mountaineer, believably.

Would love to see a full in-depth review and set-up video.
Courant are you listening? Gotta explain your product to your potential customers...
As noted previously, many are currently going to counselling for "Shiny New Thingy Purchase Syndrome" - I agree - why's this thing more betterer? We (the potential customers) must push for Truth and Clarity of Thought in Design (or something). But as for just another latest shiny new thingy kerplunk from the marketing department - So?

It almost looks like you have to start with a long enough hitch cord to make sure the legs are long enough to make it through the pulley side plates. On my hitch there's barely any cord after the sewn eyes so the bottom of the hitch keeps the legs aligned (?) (in bottom hole of hitch climber)

I like the black pin that allows the carabiner to be removed with the pulley staying with the hitch. Probably will need to buy their hitch cords for the longer eyes.

T Rex imagery coming to mind. :) I've got a friend with a bit of the T Rex configuration. Pictured him in a fight he told me about over beers :) Funny part was he fought with his nephew who was also configured T Rex. Too many beers too much testosterone fight. They made up later.

It feels nice in the hand.. but definitely pretty large compared to ART. It’s also annoyingly single-use.. no downgrading pulley and eye to eye for other uses down the line. (Snatch blocks, improvised fall arrest roof access, etc)

I’m at arborfest right now. So far @Steve Connally is the most valuable item in the building.

That may change when I get one of these cafeteria sandwiches.
