New ART Rope Guide 2010

Looks good. Takes away the side loading factor. I've been using a 50kn rated auto locking hms carabiner with my cocoon pulley. Works great but can't choke off onto a spar because of the loading factor.

I really like this! Only thing is I wish you could purchase separate parts of the Rope Guide because I already have the cocoon and that's the majority of the price for that thing.

I think cormac had the best idea for this thing which was splicing a plastic coated dog leash cable into the rope at the eye. I wish he were on here so he could post a picture of it it it very nice and seems to work superbly as there is no hardware to pass through the crotch upon removal. that looks clunky to me.

the alu ring with rope in it has potential ;-)

Yes it does...made me think of this idea...when I get home this weekend I will be doing some splicing.

Kevin,
I will try to take a picture of mine and get it up there. Also there was a rope guide that came out with said loop with something inside the 16strand splice to keep it open for retrieval. It just came to me it's the rope guide primos I believe is what it was called with the rope eye as well as the treemagineers are coming out with one using the PINTO.

it looks nice but it is a lot off expensive hardware hitting the deck ;-)

I won't buy it, the alu ring with rope in it has potential ;-)

Chisholm has a cool way of tying his rope guide to his access line. Does anyone know how he does that? Mark?

That's a simple trick, before pulling down the climbing line just hook up a carabiner one end off the access line to the climbing line and it will prevent the friction saver to hit the deck....You have to make sure there is a branch between the climbing and access line that will prevent its fall.

but thats in competition, in real work you allways want to pull out the climbing line first and you dont want to tie in a carabiner because that will jam in footlocking. SRT it doesn't matter because you will only use one end for climbing.

But in my line off work I almost allways pull out the friction saver without having it belayed by anything. That because i'm mostly on soft grounds (gardens etc.)

I have ordered the treemagineers pinto saver just to try it out. It is supposed to arrive any day now.

I don't get it. Got pics?

Check out this picture that Stacy Borden took of Cormac at the Charlotte comp. It shows how he used a tether to clip his friction saver to his ascent line. The same can be done with the tail of the ropeguide.

Hope that clears it up.

Thanks. I really just need to know who is selling them, I have a friend in Oxford who makes trips back and forth regularly.
