New 660......

Just ran 7 tanks through my new machine and im lovn that power. I bought it with a 36" bar so i could take the job that was handed to me. Although sweet out of the box, id like to do some mild tuning. What mods can i do before needing to adjust the carb? wouldnt mind juic' up my 390 as well. Guess i can start with the spark arrester??

buy a MS 880 and you won't have to bother tuning the 660.....
tuning is nice but will give extra wear and extra costs in time.

It is powerfull enough as it is and tuning won't make tings better. If you think you lack power you just have to buy a bigger saw ;-)

On a new 660. Start with a OEM Dual Port muffler cover. You will have to check carb settings afterwords.

If you talk about a stihl 390. A simple 30 min muffler mod will wake it right up with a carb retune afterwords. I gained 23% faster cut times on just a 290 with this.

I like to just stay with factory settings but keep a sharp chain, run premium fuel with a clean air filter. Then it just keeps cutting with no fiddling. Seems like once a saw starts getting adjusted it needs constant adjustment. Some people are into that kind of thing though.
