Need help to get my CDL

I know, it seems like a given that a climber has one but I don't. Now I'm in the process and have passed the written part. The tough part is the road test since I'm not working for anyone. I need a vehicle and a CDL licensed driver to accompany me on Feb 10th at 10 pm to the Eatontown, NJ MVC.

Anyone available? I was looking into renting a truck for it but still need the driver.

Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

One option would be to buy a load of mulch/compost/roadmaterial from a service...pretty cheap, and enough for a tandem dump. Then have the driver take you to the exam office and do the deed for a little extra.

Don't you have any companies in your area that rent trucks just for the testing? We have at least a couple here, when you rent the truck you get the driver/trainer plus they already have many of the appointments booked up already. I think it costs about 150 bucks. Maybe too much if you aren't working. A couple nice things about this arrangement is that you get a chance to drive the truck with the trainer so you are familiar with it for the test, you know the truck (and trailer for A license) will pass the inspection, and it is easier to get an appointment.

I don't know if you have any outfits like this in your area, but it wouldn't be hard to see, just go to the exam station and look for signs on trucks or ask at the front desk.

Good for you getting your license. Getting a B license?, be sure to get the air brakes covered.

Do well.

Thanks Ben.

I checked into that but could only find truck rentals. In the end it's all moot. I landed a job with a good company here. Downes Tree Service. They will provide me with a truck and driver for the test. Great bunch of guys. A professionally run business that looks after their people. They support professional development, benefits, etc...

I'm pumped!
