What is the function of that vertical bore cut in front of the hinge?

This was the greatest thing out of the video. I've never seen that but makes perfect sense!

It's giving an airspace, tempting the hinging fibers to start hinging sooner than they normally would. The hinge area fibers start bending, the kerf closes up and they keep on bending.

Why aren't we all doing this? Amazing such simple things can not be thought of or shared for so long.

About the video: excellent video, very clear perfect visability. Clothes and saws seem almost too clean and new, like it's some movie or demonstration by a big company.

Music was good for it too.

It kept my attention.... I almost stoped a few times, but I did finish it and this is rare, especially on an 11 minute video.

why not make it public to all? Excellent job.

You are absolutely right that it is to make the fibers last longer, and to have control over the tree in the fall a littel longer.
It is being taught here in Denmark when you learn how to pull trees down with a winch.
to make the cut always follow the fibers in the tree and not cut deeper than the bar.

these guys are doing something similar,it's just not as effective and it takes time to do it that way.
it is 4.05 minutes into the movie

about the movie I dare not publish it because I have "borrowed" music from a Danish musician called Trentemøller. know that many others put movies up with AC-DC and other good music but do not know if I dare to

and X, it is not a big company just had a new pair of pants on the day
