SENIOR ARBORIST TECHNICIAN - GROUP LEADER

Lake of Bays - Algonquin Park, Ontario



Job Overview:

  • Responsible for the daily leadership of arborist staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction in a setting of premier lakefronts and mature forests.

  • Promotion and implementation of Pavey Tree, it's mission, goals and objectives


    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB, Arborists Safe Work Practices and other related Acts, Rules and Regulations.

  • Deliver crew safety, efficiency, and production to clientele

  • Create in-house safe work practices, training, and responsibility for inventory, equipment and staffing


    Skills and Abilities
  • Progressive and Proven leadership/communication skills in a team environment, capable of leading in the highest standards of safety, quality in pruning, removals and preventative care.

  • Ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely. You are a progressive thinker, and based on your experience, you act intuitively, show initiative and determination.

  • Pleasant and courteous demeanour, with a positive attitude.

  • Progressive and continued Advanced climbing and rigging skills, competent with crane assisted tree removals, competent operation of chainsaws, chippers, stumpers, trailers, boats and other related heavy machinery.

  • Enjoy working in remote locations and adverse conditions.


    Education and Training
  • Graduate from a Forestry/Arboriculture program with at least 3+ years of progressive experience

  • Current I.S.A. Certification and desire for progressive learning

  • A clean Driver's Abstract - MTO "D" licence preferred

  • Current First Aid and C.P.R.

  • Current WAH (Working At Heights Certification)

Are you looking for a unicorn? Seems like the mythical individual with all those qualifications is gonna be already well paid and happily employed, and/or on the cusp of starting their own tree co!
You guaranteeing year round work???
Black flies seem quite numerous and hungry this year...
 
Being a Canadian living in Barbados this sounds nice but I hate steel toe boots and hi viz.....though I have done storm work on Ward Island...without the above....2016-05-27 20.21.21.webp

You'd be surprised how many people kick tires but are afraid of the unknown of another company because they are scared of change, it's too bad because a lot f guys bust there a_ _ for a company because they don't know how easy they could have it somewhere else
 
Inertia can be a powerful non-motivator for sure......but sometimes that nice lookin' grass doesn't turn out to be so great once you jump over the fence. Most cattle seem to have gotten that figured out.
