I'd say any straight forward rock or alt-rock as well as cowboy country. I like what has been listed so far although there are a few I have to check out. I have 7000 tunes on my iPod all rock rythym and blues, complete with cover art, rankings, year, band location and whatever other attributes can be added. Clearly I have too much time on my hands.

Five current faves, depending on my mood include:

Butthole Surfers
Tragically Hip (hey I'm Canuck)
Corb Lund Band
Ian Tyson
Alice In Chains

but it changes depending...-cause there's always Tool, Stone Temple Pilots.. Stone Roses, The Clash...

Now here's the twist. It's a dare. What FURTHER 5 tunes/bands come up on rotation on your music player that you would not normally admit to your coolest friends. Something that you grew up with, brings good memories or you really don't know why you listen to the dang thing.

Sorry for the derail. I like a lot of older music, being how I was born in 1987, its a different perspective, but my dad listened to Captain Beefheart growing up, and I always liked his originality

The dearland guys are friends of mine. Especially the bass player Brigham. You should check out the diamond doves. It's Dearland without Elvis. I think its better. What about Deer Tick? Any fans
