Well congrats to all three of these guys, they all did an awesome job throughout the day and into the masters as well.

Extra congrats to Kevin for winning the whole thing. Great Job to you and same to Jack! Jack had a great masters climb as well. It is always a pleasure to watch some of the absolute best do their thing!

Also.............I want to personally thank all the judges, techs and volunteers that put in their time and effort to run the whole day. Hopefully you all are reading this. Your help is greatly appreciated by all of us that compete and watch the events. THANK YOU!!!

The site was beautiful. There was plenty of new people to meet and great times to be had. It was a pleasure to watch Kevin at his AR. His 3:1 was interesting to see. Wes and Paul did an excellent job with this competition. Congrats to them and to all the competitors. The master's tree was absolutely HUGE. This was an experience with all the events in willows and cottonwoods pretty much. I am used to having stuff in oaks and hickories. It was a nice change.

Can't say as I totally agree on the Cottonwood being a nice change, with a Cottonwood's reputation, almost seems like a slightly dangerous tree to use, considering everything else in the competiton is based on safety... but then again, I suppose, anyone there for the Master's competition would have my motivations in mind on that comment coming from me - LOL - That's the second time that a Cottonwood has "gotten" Lucas in the same manner! Maybe he has to let someone else go first to "trim" out the bad wood when it's a Cottenwood.

- Seriously though, congrats to Kevin and Jack. Kevin really did have a GREAT climb!! Pic is of Wes, Kevin, and Megan when Kevin was presented his Master's First Place Recog.

I heard the dreaded stories of Lucas and the cottonwood but in Indiana and everywhere else it's about the same thing everytime with the oaks. That cottonwood was just monstrous. I don't envy those guys having to climb it but it was interesting to see how everyone handled a tree of that magnitude.

Many thanks to all of the judges and techs and fellow competitors...what a great day. It was a pleasure to see you all again and congrats to you Kevin for what must have been a great climb...wish I could have seen it! Bummer about the broken limb Lucas...I'm sure you were off to a great climb. Glad to have you as an "official" Michigan climber now.

Climb safely,

Jack

PS - Paul...I'll be heading back under the bridge now.

That's funny,

I couldn't figure out who this was, than I remembered calling you a troll. LOL

Good luck on your new venture.

I guess now that's over.............

I was so pulling for Lucas, only cause Jack & Kevin have been Mi Champs. (I like to spead the wealth)

It broke my heart, when I heard the limb snap, and come crashing down.
I must say Lucas took it very well, he is a great competitor, and stood there to cheer Jack & Kevin on during their climbs.

We were limited to willows & cottonwoods, not what I wanted but there wasn't much to choose from.

P.S.
Woodland, I still feel bad about my shortness towards you,
and hope you can help fill-in where we are lacking.

Any way to get the scores from all the climbers?

As so as I can, the computer was not a team player this weekend.

Don't worry about your shortness SirTreeRat, there were a lot of things going backwards. Besides, you took the time to apologize, and explain some things (a bit anyway). Maybe wasn't the best time for suggestions. I'll just watch when and where, and who (I don't mean you) I make suggestions around - LOL :-) . Anyway, it was a great day, and a great competition. Thanks again for all you've done! Have a "Tree-mendous" day, fall, and rest of the year! And thanks for the support for my kid! Since he grew up climbing Michigan trees, and started out in them professionally, really nice to have him back in them!
