After watching some videos on youtube, I already knew that it gets louder, but I don't care about the noise. I meant cons for the saw itself. Any experiences about that?

It's better in that the saw breaths easier. The exhaust caries the heat away from the engine, so more heat going out through a larger exhaust means a cooler running engine.

As they said, it's nothing but gains for the saw. It's actually good for the saw to let all that heat out.

Just don't let the magic black smoke and roaring flames out. They stop working when that happens.

My modded saws drink a lil more go juice. I feel like im filling up more often, but thats just because more work is being accomplished more quickly

Here's what I do to 241/261 mufflers.

Could you explain any details about how you get such a precise finished product here? I'm eager to replicate that type of louver/fish gilling (only I want a couple long ones on the top of my muff) but have tested technique on throwaway mufflers and the results aren't "a lil subpar" they're atrocious....

I actually have quite a good hand with my grinders & drills, have over half a decade of 'decorative/artistic' grinding experience (in wood, but the smaller rasps I'm working with on chainsaws are easier to control!) but at best I can must make slits not *raised* slits like your awesome work (mine are the equivalent of just putting my cut-off wheel to the muffler, I can make the slit, but when I began trying to 'bend into a louvre/fish gill' they just go total "funhouse" on me :/ )

Has anyone actually gone and shown a benefit to the pipes? I presume you mean "Straight pipe out of my OEM muffler" and not an actual straight pipe design (for instance like the following:

When I'd first learned of ^ that type, via "iron horse" youtube, thought "awesome, IF it's not tooooo loud" but have since been cautioned against following his advice, so am still uncertain if these are superior to regular muff mods (my understanding of the function of a muffler says Yes but this is something easily quantified, have to imagine someone knows!!)

261 muffler......Brad taught me years ago. This is my newest one. Done before a drop of gas. I cut slits with a dremel cutoff wheel. Then form the gills with a stihl screwdriver. Easy peasey.
