MS 200 carb problem

Ekka sent me his carb from his 200 that was causing him a lot of problems. After a tear down and under a magnifing glass I found a crack in the diaphragm chamber,on the fuel side.
I have never seen this happen before.I have not one clue what would cause this to happen. The carb appears to be a variation of a Zama C1Q,as far as I can tell.
If I have my facts correct, the saw started, idled etc, just fine. When it got under power,it leaned and died.Starting required a lot of choke.
If my analyisis is right, the saw would draw enough fuel for an idle condition.Under power, how ever,it would draw air, instead of fuel, because of the little bitty crack that went into the venturi by way of the internal chambers.
Well,I got lucky and found the problem. When you think you have seen it all, trust me,you haven't.

Ha

That's bloody incredible Al, you the man.

I told you I was sick of pulling that POS apart and putting new bits in. I was at wits end and if I had not have put that new carby on or bought a new MS200 I would still be putting up with that. In fact if you were to search the AS way back you'll find a post from there about it.

That carby was most likely faulty day one from the factory.

That would explain a lot of stuff. But why do you think after every strip down it ran a bit better few a short period of time?

Also, it might explain why the problem didn't get better when the saw was warm ... expansion could make the tiny crack a little bigger??

Well done, and I'm glad I got rid of it as it was driving me nuts.

Good question,I don't really know.Every thing else on the carb was ok.Both jets were set about a half turn out, which would seem to be light to me but some Carbs seem to vary, for some reason.Another thing I could never really figure out.

The only thing I would think on a fresh rebuild that would make a bit of difference would be a more flexible diaphragm.
Then again,it was drawing air.It would seem to draw more air, with a fresh kit in it.One of lifes unexplained things,I guess.

I got one MS 200T that the carb had no screen in the high speed noozle and you just could not set the carb on that saw so put a new carb on it and the way it went, it was a brand new 200 not sure where the screen went init was even it the carb from the factory
