More Bushit

I'll try to add to to the happy stuff, but ya gotta remember the family history - my gramps was a physician for Hitler. He was a party man, touring his nation speaking out against immigrants, hatred of apathy, and stressed national unity.

Those who didn't care to listen soon found themselves guided and involved. Today they claim they didn't know, weren't "informed".

Gramps was brought here with blessed amnesty and contracted for continued work, under another name and given a farm. His knowledge of genes contributed to my acute understandings of things biological, his passion for work influenced my committment, but I feel the need to correct his deficeits by turning the tables to heal the damage done. The two most important aspects that allowed Hitler's party to ascend to power were apathy due to the conditions people had to endure to survive...they were busy trying to maintain a living, and two, the propaganda mechanism that no one dare to question it's validity and truthfullness.

It's not a personal chip, it's a cultural and social one. It's more a duty.

well i can agree about the propoganda machine, then and now, while the general population is too busy trying to survive rather than pay attention to the gov. i dont like the way things are going but until theres a revolution all i can do is try to vote for the lesser of the evils, and pray for something better..i cant get worked up over it though...i dont want to pop a gasket or have any more gray hairs that my kids dont give me. good looking out Oakwilt, just let me know when its time to fire the first shot..ha...now theres an interesting question to you ..pardon me buzzers...would anyone in america actually revolt or sit on their hands and watch? theres that apathy , unity, thing again...( note i am not trying to start a revolution nor am i encouraging anyone to) just in case the big bro is here.

That's quite a history Reed. Not the same, but my Father's Aunt Valorie (Polish) was saved from a camp by a German doctor because she was "pretty". She became the dr.'s cook until she was freed and came to the US.

I'm not telling you to post happy threads, just stating an observation. Post whatever you want. Well, you know, not personal attacks or junk, but you all know that already.

I agree with you TreeDR.

If we are voting on kicking Reed out of the country put me down as voting that Reed stays.

Going to take more than a return of democracy to fix this mess, and make certain no similar mindset ever returns to power.

Outlaw the Republican party forever.

Funny that this country was not started(nor is now) as a democracy... but so many people believe that this would be the answer to all of our problems.... A democracy only works as long as the people don't realize that they can vote themselves money (i.e. welfare, alternative minimum tax, Re-distribution of welth, ect.) if you look at the direction that this country is heading then you might realize that we are caught in a mindset(in general) that everyone else needs to give us something, the government included.

I need to get off of my soap box... if you have a chance please check out www.fairtax.org

please don't take offence to my views, we all bleed red /forum/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

This comment, especially in the Tree Free Zone, is way out of line. Tonight I don't have the time to write very much. If I did, you can bet that there would be many paragraphs written about the history of toleration that our great country was founded on. There have been lots of lifes lost, blood shed and anger generated in order to have one place on earth that we are supposed to tolerate views that we don't agree with.

In about 1974 I worked with a guy who came across as a bit of a Minnesota redneck. One day we were edging into a political discussion, the Viet Nam war was still on everyone's mind of course, and he made a statement that made my head snap around. He brought up the bumper sticker slogan, "America:Love it or Leave it" and said that was THE most un-American thing to say. His variation was, "America: Change it of Loose it" That makes much more sense to me.

The TFZ is a place to discuss off-topic issues. Ganging up and beating up people is not what TB is about. there are plenty of other sites where that is the norm. If you disagree, say so, and then discuss your side. Be articulate. Challenge an idea with one of your own.

Hey, I can say all I want coz I aint in ya country, hahaha

Good on you Tom. I have enough deleted and sensored posts on political topics on that other forum so I like to have a yack about politics here ... where you dont get ganged up on.

Here you also have the ignore button, and you dont have to read the thing anyway.

Anyway, I thought the USA was all about freedom of speech plus ole Oak pays taxes too you know.

Rock on /forum/images/graemlins/pirate.gif

America--Change It or Lose It!

Gotta love that--good one TD.

I'm running for my county's Soil $ Water Conservation District Supervisor. Why? It's what I know, it's important to me, and it's a start.

"Move to another country if you dont like it here."

This sounds like apathy in inaction. Silliest thing I ever heard. /forum/images/graemlins/9lame.gif
