Hi does anyone roll with their mini skid in their bucket truck chip box daily?
I currently load mine onto my f550 4' deck frequently.
What is the height to the bottom of a bucket truck chip box?
Thanks

My forestry box is 44" at the floor, when empty.

10' ramps are fine. Nose-forward loading only, with the bed flat, avoiding a conflict with the operator/ operator-end of the mini with the ceiling.

Jack- knifing allows me to load/ unload with the chipper hitched.

Thanks you guys, always appreciate your advice.
I'm trying to make the leap to getting a bucket truck, but also want to ensure the mini skid return trip is eliminated. when hauling logs and chips.
Also.. (...rear mount vs forestry) ?

Can’t help you on the bucket truck questions.
As for the ramp length, I’d say a min of 10’ but get as long as possible that will stow in the box is best.

I used to haul mine in my forestry box. 10' minimum which fit perfectly in my box.

My mini is a wheeled unit and would try to do wheelies up the ramps. I'd carry a log up the ramps to keep the nose down, or switch the grapple to a hydro winch for the same reason.

Most have tracked minis which are less likely to tip.

I also preferred walking up the ramps behind the mini vs riding the mini. Just much more comfortable.

Rear mount can usually provide better access and eliminates dragging brush around the truck to the chipper. But you essentially have to bring two trucks everywhere (bucket + chip truck/bin truck).

Forestry truck provides an all in one option, but your ground guys will have to drag brush around the truck, which is no fun, especially in tight quarters.

I usually bring 2 trucks on bigger jobs anyway but going out with 1 when possible is nice
