Still considering a niche micro chipper, 14 hp drum chippers...Woodmaxx or Jensen, both American-made and 400+ pounds. ~$2400-$2800 plus tax and maybe shipping, so not much of a gamble.
My main chipper is 100-150hp (from what I have read), straight to the drum. Unless I'm machine- feeding ( my preference), I run it at about 50% of max rpm.
I have so many jobs where I could leave chips right where the brush falls rather than dragging.
I do so many small pruning jobs in tight, waterfront lots that are hard to get a dump truck and even a short chipper into. My chipper is 12' from the tongue to the tray hinge.
I could roll my super small and light trailer downhill to the work and winch it back to the truck with my gas- powered capstan.
We will see.
