mid size saw for milling

A friend who has a larger husky xp of some sort wants a midsize saw for smaller milling projects. I don't know why. So far only texting. He was considering an MS362. What else might be a better option?

I use a 372xp with my alaskan mill... It is well underpowered. Wish I had a 395. I wouldnt recommend much less power, just shorten the bar if he wants smaller. It will turn that much better. And its cheaper than buying a whole new saw.

I have done a fair amount of milling with the alaskan saw mill. I think my 395xp is the bare minimum! The 3120 even for smaller stuff with a short bar is really the way to go. Milling with an Alaskan is quite the project and and underpowered saw makes the job no fun. Bigger the better!

A 362 would be fine for shaving corners off 16" softwood logs to make beams. Hardwoods will sap torque quickly. 660/395 at minimum, 880/3120 is optimal.

I misunderstood him. He wants a midsize saw for bucking logs and miscellaneous cuts while his larger saw is set up in the mill.

Can't beat HP for milling.
