Memorial Tree

Hiked in 4.5 miles today to check out Hyperion and found someone had spread their loved ones ashes all about its base. Quite visible in the pic.

How about that. They hiked in a long ways to do that. Though it is not unusual, as I have seen the ashes of others spread through the redwood groves over the years. Seems to be a popular thing these day. All the best to them.

There was one other tree we stopped to see, that for size and height is a close contender to the Hyperion tree. Maybe a few feet shorter but nearly twice the volume.

Wow! Very impressive pictures Jer. Thanks for showing them to us.

We just spread my mother-in-laws ashes in the ocean at the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine last weekend, which was her wishes.

She was only 62 years old. Too young to go.
