I built Tom's U-Rig and have found many uses for it.
It's designed with three pulleys to help prevent rope on rope and room for the prusiks.
It's a well thought out system by a man with a brilliant mind.
If you haven't watched his build video on it you should.
He explains everything including the hardware component choices and why.
I've used mine to pull trunks over, swing stems, snap tall skinny tops off in tight quarters.
I've used it with a few more pulleys and a bunch of rope to set up a 20-1 on a super sketchy 80' Oak.
lIt was long dead and badly rotted.
I climbed up it about 30' until the barkless exterior became 3 inches of thick dry sponge that I was able to shave off with my hand saw.
Behind that was bone dry holding wood with long vertical cracks running up it.
I didn't dare try to climb any higher.
On the ground I had no room to fell the whole tree so I put a rope in it and I tried to snap off some of the top but it wouldn't break and I gave it everything I had trying.
Though it wouldn't break at least I knew then that it was safe to climb.
I love my little U-Rig system.
It''s kept in my truck neatly packed in it's own dedicated case for those special need situations.
