About 60 feet away they had a thinly paved driveway that you couldn't see due to the snow. I took about 30 feet of the top out, and when I felled the stub I was about ten feet from the edge of the driveway.Only out of curiosity, but why didn't you just flop the whole tree? Looks like there was plenty of room.
They were sick of cleaning up dead limbs, pine needles, and pine cones all the time. Plus, one of the two we took down (the one not captured on video) was leaning toward the street/power lines. Not everyone takes such a proactive approach to removing their trees before they become a hazard but I love it when they do because Id rather climb a healthy tree than a dead oneWhy was it taken down?
No joke, that was a big bastard!! Must have felt good when you rigged that last top. Did it really take 8 days? What were the dimensions on that one? I feel like (from what I have read and seen in videos) that the trees in Australia dwarf the trees here in western Maine. I'm sure it has a lot to do with species type but we have cut the shit out of our forests so long you don't see massive trees very often. Our white pines here don't exceed 120' and it's rare to even see one that tall.nice drop Brady.
if that is massive then watch my vid called mega pine and I will show you something monstrous.![]()
Haha no worries I can handle it, yeah i won't stop filming any time soon. As long as I don't let it affect productivity I will continue to play around with it. It's a fun hobby for sure and has been a great way to promote my business. I'm startin to get a little bit of a handle on it, my best stuff's yet to comeHa good on ya Brady!,
yeh mate that was 8 days of hard slogging it out to reduce that tree to a 80 ft triple leader so the 100 ton crane could take over. first 4 days are not on film.
the tree was 7.5 mtrs around at 1 mtr up from ground level and 35 mtrs in height with a spread of over 20 mtrs.
I have never been so grateful as when I finally topped this baby out and looked across the whole of the city and surrounding countryside down to the sea.
this girl was planted around 1860 and had a good micro climate happening.
there is a sister tree called megapine 2 the pining tis a pruning video if you are interested.
so wish I had a drone to film this back then.
don't stop filming Brady I was just poking some fun your way
Ben.
Gotcha - figured there was something out there.About 60 feet away they had a thinly paved driveway that you couldn't see due to the snow. I took about 30 feet of the top out, and when I felled the stub I was about ten feet from the edge of the driveway.
