Mason dump barn door build

Location
Epping
Have had a big dent in my tailgate that looks like crap and its too heavy anyways. Decided barn doors are the way to go. Picked up some hinges online and some 2x3 tubing at local metal supplier. Still need to get some sheet metal. Heres some pics of todays progress will get some more as i go. Hopefully be all done by the end of weekend(not much free time). Hardest part was lining up the hinges because the back of my dump slants forward.

I gave you a "like" both for the fabrication, and your good judgement having a Stihl chain saw.
Thats the little truck saw. Always stays in the bed not too worried if anything happens to it. My 372 on the other hand comes inside every night.. Haha
I love em all

So want to build me one next? Mason gate is crazy heavy on the new truck
Mine was an Iroquois dump amd the tailgate is atleast 250 lbs. Have to get my shoulder under it to close it. Not too bad to make if you have the time and a welder. 24' length of steel was 95 bucks and hinges were under 50. Too much time involved though haha

Getting there. Still havent decided whats holding them shut. Im thinking just a small piece of pipe, one welded on bottom of door one on dump body and i can just drop a bolt through.

Going to have to order some sheet metal local stores only have 2'x2' sheet. But they are pretty much done besides black paint. Found some trailer pins and some coupler nuts that they fit snug in at tractor supply to hold them shut.

Ended up getting a good deal a sheet of 16 gauge steel. Got welded up today. Even welded some small hooks out of welding rod to latch the doors on the side of the bed.
