Man Cutting Tree Found Dead
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL -- Volusia County sheriff's investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine what killed a man found dead Sunday afternoon in his backyard near New Smyrna Beach, a sheriff's spokesman said. Robert Evans, 72, of Ray Lyn Drive was found by his relatives at 3:30 p.m., said sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson. It appears Evans had been cutting a pine tree in his backyard at 10 a.m. The family initially believed Evans was electrocuted because the tree was down on the power line leading to the home that was without power. But a preliminary examination of the body did not show his death was caused by electrocution, Davidson said.
