looking for homemade Bigshot release thread

Been here much more than a while
Location

someone made their own, inexpensive bigshot release mechanism, but I can't find the thread.

While buzzing this morning, I saw a video with someone using a release. Slap!!Palm to forehead. So if you have a release, you can tension it, then pick it up off the ground, aim like a rifle, and shoot. Duh. I can see how this would be even more accurate for tight shots, like between 2 adjacent whorls of branches in a conifer.

Any help?

Thx.

Dan House uses a small hydraulic quick coupler. He drills through the ends and adds metal rings.

There is a horse halter snap that works too. There are three fingers and the middle one flops back for the release.

I use a caliper style archery release.

We put a loop of Zing-it on the bigshot pouch loop and hook the caliper onto that.

The release itself is attached to the pole with a longer loop of zingit using a klemheist to make it slide adjustable along the pole.

I have to build a new one because someone failed to secure the BS pole in the truck and we lost it somewhere on the highway otherwise I'd post some pics

I used an archery release too until I won a Wichard snap in a Treehouse giveaway (sweet, eh?). Here's the archery release setup...

And here's the Wichard rig...

I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement but pull it out less than once a month on average so it's good enough for me.

love the 2:1 tension device Blinky! Had seen that before somewhere but forgot all about it.

Haven't tried the witchard snap, or seen one for that matter. Though given the brand name and the fact that it is a "sailing" device I'm sure, though worth it it may be, it is far more expensive than I care to consider

How does the withchard device work?

I wish I could take credit for he 2:1 but I ripped it from Tom D.

I would have never forked out the cash for a Wichard, Butch gave one away at the Treehouse and I was the lucky winner.

It's a REALLY nice remote release snap but I can't really describe how it works... it has a bail that locks the snap shut and a string that pulls the bail down and releases the hinged side of the snap.

The archery release worked just as well as long as the seer was adjusted to prevent accidental release... but the Wichard is more compact and just cool in general.
