Looking at a Vermeer 552

Yeah I cringe every time I see a rock when stumping I’m not sure I could handle what you guys go through day to day.
about 10 years ago i did a bunch of removals and grinding at watch hill (taylor swift's hood) and there was a hung piece of ledge under a stump. I went through 10 teeth and got the whole stump done but there was a three cubic feet of rock sticking out of the ground and the people wanted me to get the rock below grade. I just pointed to the job details where it said "grind 'stump' below grade". They didn't say anything and sent the check.

You should have just said add two “0”’s to the invoice and you can get the rock below grade. A drill and some feather and wedges about an hour and half.

Bumping this because of the vcs teeth.

They do stay sharp longer and cut very well.

However, you can’t install them with an impact even on low setting because they will break.
Torqued down to 156 foot pounds with a torque wrench. Knowing that now will save me some sweat.

I am going to inquire about the remote option. Anyone know the approx cost?

2013 sc852 bought new and added the remote 2 years ago and it was 8k and worth every penny

I’m over these expensive teeth. I want to switch to a sanvik wheel since I still have a ton of teeth from my carlton. I’m not sure if that wheel would cross over to vermeer.
Bumping for that reason.

Ask Sandvik, but they probably make one that will fit. On that machine though I would use the GreenTeeth, they’ll work great. We ran a 652 for years before the RG75, and the GreenTeeth, if kept sharp, made that machine cut very well and quite quickly.

Is there a particular wheel you’d recommend? I think greenteeth has a handful of different ones

For a 552 I am not sure, I think the “Reverse S” design, as they call it, works well, and for that size machine I’d run the 750 size tooth, the 1100 size is too big for that engine, at least in our hardwoods down here. I don’t know what trees are like in your area.
