look and tell

Noticed a few of these on a pin oak. Just wondering if anyone could id what it is.

Richard is likely right,or it's a related species anyway depending where you live. This is a juvenile though as there are no defined wings on the body yet. Juvenile insects pretty much devoted to feeding.

Sorry - Bug 101 here... only adult insects have wings. Adult insects are devoted solely to sex...I mean reproduction. Some adult insects do not even feed. This stink bug does though. Food and sex for this critter.

Giant silkworm moths do not even have functioning mouthparts.They must mate before they starve to death.

Sort of a derail...but interesting nonetheless.
