log screw

I want one for my mini. The atom splitter. Make softwood into chip able pieces. Theres good vids on youtube. Prob be sweet on an x.

I think devildog has a big one, maybe hell see this.

The purpose built attachments I've seen for excavators are ridiculously expensive to me. At the moment I can't remember what it was for KX121, but I want to say $15-20k.

It's plausible to make your own, although I didn't put much focus into that. I was interested for a particular clearing job I had, splitting stumps and large logs to burn easier.

I was at a demo for one last year. The attachment seemed to work ok on the machines, I think they were going for around 7 - 8K. Personally I'm more impressed with the shear that they have at Tremson, but that's also on a much larger machine.

Wow!!! Unless I'm reading something wrong, the one Brandon posted about is 600$!

You would still need the auger head with the atom splitter. So a bigger one would easily be 7-8k wi the large auger drive.

I bought a used "Stickler" for $100 a couple of years ago - would like to mount it on a hyd. auger for my SK 650, but auger drives are spendy. Also toying with the idea of powering the screw with a high torque slow rpm hydraulic motor mounted on a quick attach plate. Fun to dream. In the meantime, said Stickler sits where it will probably not move for another 5 or 10 years.
