Log or Chip Boiler?

There is another style boiler that only uses one burn chamber and gasiffies. It's typically called a Garn ....which is a brand name. They are even easier to build.
I was going to build one initially, but for the last 5 years I've gotten busier every year and like i said initially got to the point where we don't split anymore at all. So building the garn was not an option anymore. Here is a blueprint i drew of the garn i was going to build. I still have the steam rated piping, elbows, T's and reaction chamber, and blower if somebody's interested in them. What do you do if you have chains or cables running through logs? I just throw them in the boiler and let him burn and then I remove the chain and cables and dump them. 20171231_152903_Film3.webp 20171215_184743_Film3.webp 20171108_143619.webp

Thank you I’m looking at a split between shop and home. Great perspective as I’m just walking in from splitting wood for the house.

By not efficient at you saying it’s to big?

There is a solution...I have been using a chip burner for the last 3 winters, and couldnt be happier. It is a methane burner, meaning it burns hot enough to burn the methane gas off of the green chips. 50% moisture is perfect, and i use the chips straight out of my Bandit 1090. I heat a 5000 sq. ft. shop/house combo. I do have small shed i store the stove in, along with my chips. I load a 12' conveyer once a day, and it self-feeds from there. Another benefit of a methane burner is that you have far less ash to deal with.

I'd love to see pictures.

I'm not saying burning the way I burn is the best way to do it. For me the issue is getting rid of the wood that doesn't get chipped through the 1890. But burning the chips is an awesome idea!

That Log Boiler looks bad ass, but a little to large for my needs. I've been doing a lot of research on all these outdoor furnace companies, now realizing I'm surrounded by some of the manufactures. What I'm curious about is, does anyone have any experience with the Crown Royal Stoves line? I've seen a few when driving but don't know anyone with a unit.
