log arch

I was wondering if anyone has made or purchased a log arch that fits through backyard gates that they really like. I am going to build one and would like some ideas, dimensions and pictures.
Thanks

Have no pics or drawings any more but I did cob together an arch about 10 years ago. Basically 2 inch box tubing to form a square arch and welded stub axels onto it. Then laid a 2 inch box tube top rail cantilevered so that about 25 percent of it hung off the back end and 75% off the front. on the front end I welded a goose neck to attach it to an atv.

I welded grab hooks front middle and rear for chains. for lifting I put a boat winch on top and ran my cables front and rear.

Hook the one end of the chain on one hook, run the chain under the log and latch the winch cable onto the other end.

Crank the log up and hook the chain. Then do the other end of the log.

I made the arch part itself adjustable in height and width by nesting smaller boxtube inside the 2 inch tube and using lock bolts to hold it in place. I ended up leaving it wide enough to hall a 32 inch log and tall enough to do the same.

Mind you the LOA will determine the side tube you use. Mine was designed with 3 or so feet over the back and 8 or so towards the front. That allowed me to carry a 16 footer and occasionally an 18 footer.

Prolly as clear as mud but I'll happy to answer questions.

I have had 5 arches (4 at present). The stupidest thing I ever did was to try and build one myself. A have a plasma cutter, welder, etc and am well-capable. This was back in 2001. I'll attach a picture of that train wreck.

Take my advice. Take the time you would spend and go do tree work. Save the money you would have spent on axels, tires, steel, etc. Add the two together and just buy one.

I use the small arch more than anything, but I sold the medium arch to get a big tractor arch. I would recommend the medium arch (fetching arch), it is very versatile. I miss it terribly. Get the winch system as well as the tongs.

can you elaborate on this.

how long is your tongue ?

how often did you use the adjustment of the width?
I was going to make my handle adjustable in length I wonder if that is a good idea?
