I am looking for opinions on what’s out there for a small limbing saw. 40cc ish. I have a Dolmar 421 that I love but I don’t want to use it at my new job. How is the husky 543xp ? Anyone have one ?

I would love a tail handle ms200 or ms201 if they make the 201 like that.
I got an old 024 that I really like.

I’ve seen reviews, the 346xp is supposed to be excellent.

Sorry, I misread you and thought 346, I don’t know anything about the 543xp.

Is a ms261 bigger than what you’re looking for?
Like I said, I’d love a rear handle 201 but once it came down to purchase time I’d probably chicken out and get a 261. More saw for around the same cash.

I’m asking for criticism here, but I got 2 ms180 and they’re really a lot of fun and have served me well for a few years now. I really enjoy running those cheap little guys. I used to have a Husky 137 too, was cute, and similar to the Stihl 180. Never let me down. Homeowner saw though and they probably won’t take much abuse. If the tank or handle or something like that cracks, it’s probably a goner.

The 180 is actually not a bad saw. I bought one for my wife and find myself using it at times because of the weight and ability to cut as long as its sharp. Bonus if your away from your truck is it's tool less chain tightening, although it's rarely needed after the initial chain stretch. I'd limit it to about 8-10" hardwood although it can cut through 20" if you have the time.

I have a Stihl 241cm muffler modded. They are on the extinct list but my dealer has a couple. Nothing but a wood eating machine with 18" full chisel. I can do stuff from the Kill Bill movie when limbing out near the tips. I generally dont grab the bigger saw until I'm at 20".

The Echo CS-355T/16" bar I grabbed during sale days at Homerland (15% off of $359) has been nothing but a home run, and w/Echo's 5 yr consumer warranty, hard to beat.

I found another Dolmar 421. 10 minute drive up the road. Used but like new. Looks like it has less than a day of use on it. $300 cdn cash.

I really like those little saws so I’m happy to have found one.
Thanks all for the input.

I took a ms170 on a 1 way trip to Costa Rica last April for deadwooding cypress. My worn out shoulder appreciated the light weight. Really pleased with the performance of the $200 (Canadian) thing.
