limb zipper

In a similar cutting setup the Fiskars pruning stik cuts from the side, anvil other side. I can vouch for slicing action being an enhancement based on using hand pruners and adding some slice to get through a heavier piece.

Saw your advertisement in Northern Woodlands, seemed like a perfect clientele. Where else do you advertise? The Common Ground fair in Unity Maine would be a good bet, also perhaps reach out to Shelter Institute in Woolwich ME? Best of luck and a very cool tool.

Thanks for the info about Common Ground Fair. Unfortunately the fair is no accepting any more forestry vendors for the 2022 fair. It looks like I will have to sign up now for the 2023 fair.

Any other ideas for how to reach my target audience would be welcome. That audience l believe is woodland owners who like to work in their own forest.

Thanks

Shelter Institute goes to Common Ground, may be amenable to showing your product?
They used to be SWOAM (small woodland owners of Maine) then changed its name: https://www.mainewoodlandowners.org/ this org is the go to resource for that target group.

@MrLimbZipper
I see that the pruner head is made in South Africa; Did you invent this device ?
Just curious. :)
It’s a long story. The pruner head was invented by a Finn. I ran into it at a Swedish forestry trade show in 2013. The inventor died in 2015 and the business was abandoned. The patent had lapsed.
l was lucky to get my hands on one in 2018. Some folks had shown interest in it so l set out to have it manufactured. In 2014 l started importing a locking grease coupler from South Africa and marketed it under the LockNLube brand name. In 2017 l sold LockNLube to Jay Boren. Because the folks who made the LockNLube grease coupler did such a great job and are very clever people l asked them if the would make the pruner. They said yes, that was in 2020 l finally took delivery of the first production run in May of this year. I named the pruner LimbZipper.

My main contribution besides finding a quality manufacturer was making it into a usable system. That is combining it with the telescoping pole, the poles/hand saw, the scabbard and finally the belt hook to hang the pruner when the saw is on the pole. My years of being a climber and logger taught me the importance of all the kit l might need hanging off my tool belt when l was working.

I also make modifications to the pole, the scabbard, the saw, and the hook so that it all works seamlessly together. What appears to be obvious now was not always clear in the begining. A lot of trial an error and trying again.

There it is the short version of the story.

Thanks !

The Mr zipper system is for sale through locknlubes website saw it on a Facebook add. Not sure if there are replacement saw blades etc but it's easy enough to drill new holes in a different blade to make it fit.

I sent an e-mail to "locknlubes" several day ago.

Weird looks like it could be a decent system even with it's limb size limit, I often have to take a lot of suckers off oaks and it would probably be significantly better for that than my silky.

@GregManning

I know mr limbzipper personally and you should back off. Russell is in his 70s and not on his computer every day. He is out in the woods putting his tools to work! Doing epic amounts pf t.s.i and covering amazong acreages.
He developed the tool for his needs 1st and foremost. Pruning softwood ( mostly) into timber trees. Not tipping back your crabapple.
I have used the tool personally and it is perfect for what its designed to do. Prune softwood into timber!
Im sure he will answer all your important questions when he can. Patience grasshopper

Perhaps you have over-reacted . . . . . . . .

Neither responded.

P.P.S. I have been trying to be helpful to this thread !
