Less is more. New hitch assist.

I have been using this gadget for a while now and I love it.
The rope slider does all a bulky pulley does but than without the bulk.

I was thinking the same thing Casey...Very cool little gadget...treespotter that setup is awesome...Are they available in the states? Also how do you like that setup using just the one carabiner? If I had fixed eyes on any of my ropes I would definitely use just the one, nice and compact...

The Rope Slider is packaged in envelopes. Ex. taxes it cost me €12,50. At the current rate that will set you back $18,00 without shipping. I can't imagine why Tamil wouldn't be able to ship to the other side of the pond.
Just contact Tamil directly. Maybe he can help you out. Check for his e-mail address on the contact page of his website.

I'm getting too old for this.
The humidity was 75%.
First tree after a month vacation.
It was a quick hit and run job.
It was raining the whole day.

Nope, no excuse.

Just imagine what I would have looked like without the gadget.

Am I seeing right that you can't put that thing on midline? I have a slack tender, no moving parts, that can be put on midline. Let me see if I can find pics

I've experimented with many versions of this little guy...

I was thinking the same thing Nic.

You created it right?

many years ago.

You gave me one, back in Oh.... 2006 or so? I still have it. When you came here and taught a splicing class.

Personally, I think a rope guide or other pulley isn't all that bulky.

and sorry to say, without actually using both, I predict Nic's is likely more easy to use in that you can put on in mid-line.

unfortunately, a simple small peice of aluminum, is still expensive to manufacture on a small scale.

I use something similar to Wolter's gizmo on my lanyard. Just a swivel with two fixed eyes. Doesnt attach midline but it is on the lanyard so no big deal.

David, you are one of the lucky few people in the world that have one of those!

Good point, Kentucky. On a lanyard you should never notice the diff. But I take my hitch off my climbing line occasionally when I climb. This just wouldn't do for me personally.

sweet, I knew I was special.

best hitch "assist" going is a large brass swivel dog snap.

can you clip/unclip that little gizmo on your onto your line at anytime or do you have to slide the rope into it?

dog snap is just so easy and compact.

What gloves are they Wolt? my search for the best grip gloves still goes on, let me know dude.

That gizmo looks half decent apart from the fact it can't be attached midline.

I dont mean literally midline, lets look at the Scots Pine on the right as an example.

The lowest right hand limb, lets say its about 15ft to 20ft from the ground, many times on a medium sized tree like that I'll just throw a throwing knot over that limb and body thrust up to the first branch. A few swap overs between mainline and flipine later I'll be at my TIP.

If I use your gizmo it means feeding it along about 30 ft of rope before I throw the knot wheras with a micro pulley I can just throw my rope over then attach the micro pulley during the tying/setup of my swabisch.

I suppose if you use throwlines and ascenders a lot then the gizmo will be just fine.

Hey Wolter,

How can you use them longer as 3 weeks....mine are destroyed after a serious climb ?

Longest they ever last with me was about one week during climbing :-)
But they sure can smell awefull, just like wet climbing lines that is sufficating in a waterproof ropebag for about 2 weeks :-( just forgot all about it and found out last friday.

I still have to test the hitch assist further, but there are some nice innovations that can be made in our business and thumbs up for small company Shizzl to get things going.

see ya friday, oh and leave the smelly gloves at home ;-)
