Left over Amsteel...What to do, what to do?

Pulled 60' of 3/8 amsteel off winch that saw virtually no use. Except for some fuzzing on the end it is otherwise in great shape. Question is, what can I use it for?

I don't want to toss it but can't figure out what to do with it. In fact, it has been sitting in a box for 4 years!

Anyhow, any suggestions on how I could put it to use or what uses would be best for amsteel?

Thanks!

Make yourself some slings.
I use these on light loads instead of natural crotching. Rope runs through the biner or an ISC Mini Rigging Block. http://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?item=14576
Quick, light and fast. Easy to hang off your saddle.
They can also substitute for loop runner when speed lining.
I believe these were made out of 1/2", but 3/8th would work.
They are terminated with a locked brummel splice. Very easy to do.

I made 20-30' slings that we keep on the truck for staying brush piles. Picture a 6 man crew working 100' from the chipper. You can run the winch line out and stage the brush on the line and winch it in, or you could take your slings lay them in 3 different places, stage 3 piles, and winch as ready. Kin certain situations it will keep the chipper much more utilized

I spliced a steel thimble on one end for the winch line too interface with, and I tied a steel snap clip to the other end which hooks around the pile and back to the sling to cinch onto the pile.

3/8" amsteel makes a great loopie for a pinto rig. It's light, packs tight, and accepts 5/8" rope. The whole set up is amazingly strong and versatile for its size.
