leaning elm tree

I took down an elm tree today that was slightly uprooted by Hurricane Ike. I had to climb up about 40feet to rope the top out, nothing real big and had it out in about 4 pieces. I was unable to get any equipment into the back yard, or tie into anything other than the elm tree. Everything came down okay but was wondering how some of you guys would take the tree down? Any special tricks on leaning trees?

The tree was slightly uprooted. I guess the roots still had a good hold to prevent it from going over. No roots were exposed, but there was the obivious lean as well as the ground cracked and lifted. Thanks for the ideas of guys and braces.

Maybe a GRCS to aid in pulling it up to install the bracing and guy lines. No flopping options, threading the needle? Be safe brother, that tree sounds sketchy and I'm sure Ike made a few like that. I would also make sure to really communicate a work and cutting plan to the crew on a tree like that. Then let er rip.

Help me out with that Dm Tree. Are you saying that's your vote or my plan sucks? I'm ok either way.

i meant a big plus one for the grcs. as in i agree a 100% i have done some pretty amazing things with the grcs. and if theres no tree to hook it up then pulleys and bull rope are your best friend..
