Largest Cherry Bark Oak is USA

It was amazing. Looking forward to doing some more work on it soon. Brendon has a contract with the owner so only he can work on it. The main mission this summer is to remove deadwood and ivy. This winter will be target pruning. The tree already looks much better after a day's work but more is to be done. The really cool thing is its charity work. He is doing the care of the tree for free as long as nobody else hacks on it. Kind of a brilliant idea to help save and maintain such a magnificent specimen. Honestly the tree is unbelievably healthy. Few rubbing branches but really no rot or cavities that we could find. I can't believe it's in such good health. Amazingly tough old bird.

I'll go out there anytime just to climb it. If you have a free day, just hit me up and well see what we can work out.

What is the life expectancy of a tree like that?

I have a bunch of big (not as big as that one :-) ) burr and white oaks on my property and they go about 150 years and rot from the middle, though the still look good (warning I am a tree lover, not an expert) before a storm tips them over exposing the rot.

Large trees can be hollow and perfectly healthy. White oaks grow much slower, and trees the same age as this (my guess is 300 years) may be much smaller.

I don't know the typical life span though. They CAN get to be very, very old. That tree may be there longer than any of us.
