lanyard adjuster

Looking to move to a mechanical adjuster for lanyard this year. I am looking at the ART positioner 2 and the rockgrab. I am open to other suggestions as well. I wear the TM saddle and normally use the lanyard on my leg rings. Just looking to steal some others thoughts before I drop the coin.

What kind of lanyard are you moving from? What length are you looking to run? And what kind of climbing do you do(removals, pruning)? And what kind of trees do you normally climb?

I currently use a 12' lanyard. just your standard friction hitch (distel) with a pinto pulley. I do both removals and pruning. about a 50/50 mix these days with the on going ash problem. My typical trees are the typical Illinois trees. Maples, Ash, Oak, Locust, Elm.

How long before the positioner wears out and needs to be rebuilt? Figuring 3 days a week climbing 9 months out of the year?

I've had two positioners--one an early iteration (when they were plain aluminum) and one I got in like 2011--never needed to change the clutch on either one. You are not using it to descend on your whole line like the lockjack. Feathers out smooth when you are under tension better than anything I've used. You won't regret it.

I use a positioner 2, and on the other end two small technora loops with 10mm shackles to help tend, it's a tiny excellent setup, the loops are 3ton, and only 7mm, and TBH the loops are as smooth as the positioner, would like to share the idea, as its a great design.

when using a positioner does the tail weight constantly pull the length of the lanyard thru so that the positioner tends to be next to your snap / biner at the end of your lanyard?

that thing does seem pretty sweet.

I spliced a dog snap on the tail of my lanyard and either clip it into a gear loop on my back or the gear loop on the leg of my buckingham empire.
