knotless rigging

i'm liking the idea, going to set up a trial rope. seems like a fast way to set up your rigging line. i'm quick with a knot but a choke and 1/2 clove should make for speedy rigging.

thanks for the picks

Norm,Who was the manufacturer of those loops?
Were they bar tacked or sewn?

I won't publicly name the manufacurer. It was a 1" tubular webbing loop bar tack sewn into a 48" length. It was done on a testing machine certified to be accurate +/- 1%.

are you guys pre tensioning the beer knot before use in production? i make my own rigging and have never had one get loose. i have 10" of tail on both sides of the beer knot then i "lightly" tension them with a come a long. that also test the sling so i know it is safe to use.

also i use 2" webbing for larger loads made the same way only the slice is longer and i tension it more. i've picked a large tree off a car with one. good enough for me

I needed a new rigging line anyway so I just ordered a 1/2 X 150' NE rigging line w/ a 3" eye on one end and a small eye & thimble on the other from Shelter (About $150). .....Thanks for the great idea, Kathy!

Like Kathy said, 6" eye is good. With a 3" eye it's more difficult to invert the splice, especially if used with a 5/8ths or larger rope. A 3" eye will probably work with the 1/2 inch line that you have ordered, but a larger eye would make it easier.

Hmmm... I was thinking that 3" would be fine for the 1/2" line, but you're probably right, bigger is better for ease of use. Shelter was out of stock last week, so maybe I can ask for a larger splice yet. Thanks for the advice.

A good name for this would be the "Holtz" knot, because it looks like it Holtz really well.
