This thing is amazing. 150yr old Irish fisherman design. Got to be the most efficient use of wood energy. A handful of twigs and the large one boils I think 6 cups of water in under 2 minutes. Quicker than any mountain stove. It has some hazards for the inexperienced but safe if you follow instructions.

[/ QUOTE ]. You have one? I'm doing a winter camping trip in the BWCA and would like to try that.

Lee Valley sells them if you have them in the states. If you become a Kelly Kettle fan on facebook they're offering 10% off and 5 uk pound international shipping. You will not be sorry. It's one of those things; I wonder why they are not more popular. A little twig fire in the base, set the kettle on and it starts going like a jet engine. Like I said there are some hazards. If you left the cork in boiling water would explode out. It even boils over aggresively without the cork. The base will burn what is underneath, so you need to set it on a rock. She's a ripper.

I've used one of these things for years. In my experience, if you put them on a camp stove or even smaller backpack stove, they do not heat very efficiently as compared to building a little fire with small sticks as previously stated. This surprised me because I thought that they would heat just as efficiently when put on a stove. I have the larger model so I have not tried this with the smaller one.
