Any recommendations for the best low profile ear muffs for the kask super plasma? The ones in the below pic suck when running the chipper.

Earplugs in my experience. I could never get any earmuffs to seal/ have enough down pressure. It's the reason I wear a petzl helmet again. Kask were cozy on the noggin but so frustrating with out Muffs
I have a petzl vertex vent and I put the kask muffs on them and they work so much better than they do on the kask. It must be the geometry of the helmet that makes the muffs suck on the kask.

I second Sean. The super plasma just doesn’t allow muffs to seat properly. I bought the peltor adapters and green peltor muffs for my protos and am very pleased. Better protection than the stock muffs, deeper so the sena speakers don’t press your ears (sooo painful by day’s end), and they still fit under the helmet (snug, but they fit).

I have two Kask helmets, one with the Kask and one with 3M. Love the 3M, the Kask are terrible- kept popping back out- but now that they are breaking in are better. 3M works great. I forget the exact model.

What Petzl helmet do you like best?
My favorite is the Alveo, which has been discontinued and replaced with the Strato. I haven’t worn that one yet, but it looks promising.

The Vertex is also a great hat, I have a couple of those as well, I just prefer the lighter weight of the Alveo even though the Vertex is cooler.

I have a vertex vent but might order the strato. Looks like the strato sits down on your head more and might be less weight/torque on the neck when looking up? (less top heavy?)

The Strato appears to sit lower, like the Alveo does.

The difference is largely in the suspension and the cushioning method - the Vertex has a very thick shell and suspension straps that work together to absorb impacts, so it needs a big space between shell and suspension, where the Alveo (and I believe the Strato as well) use a styrofoam cushion inside a thin shell that deforms under impact to absorb the impact force, so there is no air space above your head, and the center of mass of the hat is lower, making it less “top heavy.”

Thanks!! I will give the strato a try.
