just orderd the powder coated large porta wrap

Re: spam

yess spam indeed. i have an update on the porty. ok so now that i have used it a bit it seems ones the coating has aged, brand new ropes slide much easier. i think i would rather have this one then a stainless steel one.

Re: spam

Awwww, now the stainless porty is awesome! Fully functional straight out of the box and the tree saver cap is sweet! No "break in" as you described with yours.

I've never needed a 3/4" rope... or even a 5/8" rope... never mind that they're a pain to handle once they get some wear on'em.

80% of the time I use 1/2" double braid, the other 20% is 9/16" DB. If I need to rig Reg Coates sized wood I'd go with two load lines but so far I haven't needed to.

Enjoy that porty, make yourself some money with it. Besides a 200T, a porty pays for itself faster than any other gear you can buy.

1/2" double braid...man I swear by that stuff but a lot of people "dry crotch" it. Good gawd what a waste of good line. You could almost convert it to a broom stick after it's been charred. I've seen it last for 3 years or more of moderate to hard use when used correctly. I have 200' of 9/16" double braid also. Good stuff.

Dry crotching double braid is definitely bad but have you tried NE Superbraid from Sherrill? Breaking strength is low for a double braid because it's woven so tightly but it also doesn't have much differential slipping between the core and cover braids. It's my favorite natural crotch rope.

i have been using a 200' length of 1/2 dynasorb(10,000lb) and a 150' length of 7/16 double braid(7,000lb). shipping to me is a 200' length of 9/16 stable braid. gotta love new rope days
