John’s Custom Saws build nightmare, what would you do?

I'm guessing most don't have time. They'd need to waste how much time (and money on trial saws) experimenting before they can do it for a customer?

And if they are good mechanic, how much extra time do they have? Unless they decide they intentionally want to change their focus and quit doing what they are already doing....which is what I am assuming the guys who take shipments are doing.

Does anybody buy the saw, modify and sell or do they all require you to send it to them?

There that, but I’ve been told that Stihl dealers won’t even work on a saw that has been modded. Of course I have two that are half a day one way, that actually mod saws. So someone is full of shit or the one who is playing by the rules

That's how Randy at Mastermind Work saws does it. You call in your order and pay, he'll pickup the saw from his local shop, mod it and mail it to you.

Also about as close to a sure thing as you’ll find for having a saw ported.

Update: He did finally send the saw back. I received it on the exact day I told him I would report it stolen if I didn't have it by then. The saw was bone stock untouched just as I sent it 10 months ago. He was extremely irritated with me, claiming I was just trying to get something for free (even though I never asked for any discount or for him to do It for free.) I tried to get him to send me the invoice multiple times and I never received it. So long story short, I got my saw back so I'm happy about that but I am very disappointed in the experience.

This logic makes no sense because the only reason you would want an influencer to run your saw would be to generate business. This guy just sounds like a turd swirling around in the toilet.

I have heard many times over the years about the "kiss of death" syndrome where a big influencer will send a whole bunch of people to a good small business, with the best of intentions. They end up being entirely unable to scale their operations to compensate and the business owner quickly gets completely overwhelmed. They usually end up tanking on customer service, or tanking on product quality, or both. Not always fair to chock it up to incompetence or malevolence. I'm not making excuses for this business in this case, just giving an alternative explanation. My guess is that Jake Rogers (Guilty of Treeson) shone so much light on this guy that he was completely, utterly overwhelmed with it all and he had no idea how to deal with it. Just a hypothesis, again I have no idea what happened here...

Lol I have a huge social media following! Got at least 250 followers! Obviously I’m joking, but I do have green money I wanted to give him to build my saw, what more could he need?

Ya it seems Jake helped him get his channel started and once he got it started he posts a lot and seems to work on Jake's saws quite often....
Seems he really likes the whole you tube fame thing and figuring out how to build his NOS saw.
