It\'s not just falls and chainsaws

I've been working with my seasonal for the last 6 months, he's 35 and a father of 2. He's not in any shape to run a triathalon, but not in poor shape either. The last couple weeks he has only been able to go 4-5 hrs before he is exausted and just can't do anymore, I've asked him why all the sudden he is getting so tired and asked if he needed to go to the doctor - to which he said that because he is unemployed from his regular job he has no insurance and feels fine, just a little tired.

Last Friday night he got home and was feeling a little worse than normal, his wife forced him into the ER and they found that he was having a major heart attack. His left ventrical was 100 percent blocked and he needed immediate surgery.

This has been a major reality check for me and my co-workers. We get plenty of exercise at work, but don't always have a salad instead of the large fries!

He is home now and doing fine but will be restricted in what he can do for at least 4 months - including trying to keep his stress level down while not having a job or insurance!

Remember guys - no amount of PPE and inspecting equipment matters if your heart isn't beating. Be safe in the tree and out of the tree!

Update.... He has been home for a while now and is doing much, much better. His biggest obstacle now is changing his diet, which is much harder that he thought it would be. He has a very positive attitude and is looking forward to getting back to tree work soon! What better physical activity than dragging brush!!
On a personal note, why does eating healthy have to be more expensive? The poor guy has little income through his wife, no insurance and now has to pay more for food so he can avoid this from happening again?

If you really eat more healthy you will start to eat more vegetables. Even though you pay more organic vegi's and meat
it evens out because you save money on buying more vegi's than meat. If you eat right you tend to not crave foods. your appetite is more satisfied and you spend less money on food in general. I have been eating mostly vegetables and grains since the spring and I haven't noticed spending any more money on food than usual. But I have noticed I don't need as much food to remain strong for the day. The less work a body does to distribute food the better job it will do on making it strong.
