ITCC Performance Criteria---Review

Did you also hear that the ISA is raising the Chapter fee from $200 to $1,800 per climber to compete in the ITCC. That means if a Chapter has both female and male competitors, it will cost the Chapter $3,600 to send them to compete in ITCC.

That would sure limit some chapters and climbers. If the chapter has to pay that much more they are not going to be able to help the climbers as much. Its going to make it next to impossible for some to be able to afford the trip. If each chapter ends up raising their comp fees less guys will compete. Some chapters have a hard time bringing out a lot of climbers as it is. Or it will take away from the prizes. Seems like no real positive outcome.

So why the increase?

The whole criteria is a joint effort of the tech advisory committee of the ITCC.

Having said that, since the head of the tech committee is the venerable Mark Bridge I say we lay authorship at his feet

No, really as I understand it, a lot of work from many has gone into the draft and now that it is up for review many more will/have a chance to add their expertise.

As climbers we can sit and b*^ch all we want about rules and accepted equipment or we can put forth our input at times like these.

I encourage you to do the latter!

Is the cost item fact??? Or rumor???? May as well cross off many chapters that are having a hard time hanging in there at all as it is. Almost wonder what the point of looking over criteria, if maybe priced out? Is anyone asking for input on that one??? I don’t know of anywhere that thinks seriously about 900% cost increase’s – especially in today’s world!

The prizes are usually donated and don't have an effect on income. At least in Florida.

This information is incorrect. ISA and ITCC are not raising the fees for competitors at the ITCC. The registration rate is $200 per competitor.

That amount you are referring to was referenced in a proposal for the concept of an official endorsement structure and was a multiple year fee which would include climber registration fees for multiple years along with costs for other benefits.
This proposal has not been approved, and was only provided to the ISA Board and chapter representatives for feedback.

There are no changes in the ITCC structure at this time. ISA and ITCC are happy to answer any questions, you may email itcc@isa-arbor.com or call the ISA office at 217-355-9411.

I hope I have cleared up any misunderstanding. Thank you.

"See Appendix 3c for details of the dynamic test protocol"
