Issue with woodsman

Happens to me too. Make sure your belts are tight and clutch adjusted. After that you may want to make sure the key wasn’t shorn off on one of the drive motors. You’ll have to grind and unbolt the access pothole on the feedwheel

I replaced the autofeed with a brand new LOR and it still does that. I think it’s a loss of hydraulic pressure when the engine bogs down so the feed wheel can’t reverse the drum sucking the wood in.

FYI, on a 15x, 12” material is max for that machine. We run an 18x and 15” material is max for it. Life is just easier bringing the skid steer and loading logs out instead of trying to chip heavy wood. Even though having the ability to chip massive wood is a huge benefit.
Your issue just might be that the it is maxing out what it can do. What engine is in it?
hydrulic filter replaced/new?

Yes. It’s new. Also, it should be able to handle 15” white pine.

That sounds plausible to me. Also possible that there’s a loose connection or timing is off on the reverse function - does it reverse properly when feeding bundles of smaller debris? And could the low-rpm limit be too low? Set the AutoFeed to trip at a higher rpm and it will trip more often, but should recover more quickly and stall less frequently.

can’t supply my local campgrounds with enough 15” white pine for camp fires.
Also I’m not going to bash the “ LOR” however the “Auto Feed Plus, Gold” is by far a superior auto feed unit. I posted a pic of it before. Kurt is the guy that invented it. They came OEM on all Woodsman chippers and Carlton equipment.
I can get you his number if you would like. He’s out of Michigan. When it comes to auto feed or reversing auto feed, there is no one more knowledgeable.

I have a woodsman 15x, when we put 12 inch or larger logs in it shuts down, it will bog down until the auto feed kicks in but instead of the rpms going back up the motor just shuts down, any ideas?
Call Landmark Machinery and ask for Paul Westfall.

Woodsmans do have a tendency to "self feed" even when the autofeed kicks on. Do you know what RPM your engine runs at with the clutch engaged and what RPM your high and low limits on the tach are set at?
