Iso cheap rope grab 7/16-1/2"

Trying to set one if my friends up with gear his dad ordered him a maxiflip sport lanyard but the rope grab he was hoping to use with it was a bit too big anyone have an extra laying around?

The one he has is just made for a larger diameter line. The ones I'm using are the petzl micro grabs.

Yes I'm just hoping not to have to buy abrand new one the flip lines are 11.7 mm
If I do have to go new I'll probably get one of the isc mini grabs.

3/8” tennex with a pulley is pretty cheap. I use a swabisch (?) with my lanyard.

Was just going to say that. Pretty hard to beat a hitch and hitch cord of your choice.

Yea people like them not sure if it would work with a wire core, plus I don't need anything fancy life that for this.

They said it works with wire core with other internal adoptor parts.
This thing is like Super car ... It's got a nice colors to it too ... I should better save some up for this.

I got an aluminum Gibbs in very good or excellent condition that I can part with. I’ll get a pic if you’re interested.

It has the pin, and I’d include an appropriate bolt and locknut. If it’s going to stay on the same lanyard /flipline, the bolt and locknut is a good idea.

Sure if it'll work for the smaller diameter that would be great thank you.

The ART adjuster is far from a cheap solution….. they are a brilliant device yes, and they do sell a cam for a wire core interface, but again NOT CHEAP. I echo the hitchcord ideas…. chances are you’ve got some kicking around.

I love the ART. Smooth as silk and easy to operate on a good clean lanyard. Pitch on the lanyard can cause them to stick a bit.

I still never tried one, I think I’ll get one in a couple weeks. There’s just way to many good reviews from all you guys about it, I gotta try it.

The pitch and issues it causes with so many different lanyard adjusters is what makes the simple old rope grab worth owning still. I think anyone that occasionally has to work in pitchy conifers should have a separate pine lanyard with a rope grab to adjust it. The downside is that you can’t let out slack while it’s loaded with your body weight. You get used to it very quickly and easily though.

I may be in the minority, but I prefer a hitch and micropulley to my ART. Releasing the ART is harder to modulate than a hitch, at least on the ropes I've tried it with. I probably need to spend more time with it, but I got in the habit of grabbing a different lanyard when kitting up for a climb.

It is well made and very compact.
