Good luck. With the very next state to the west of you offering pretty much anyone who's so much as seen a tree between $35-$40 an hour with paid transportation and housing, as well as a per diem for food, I'm not surprised that jobs with the potential to take home $150 a day go begging. The supply of talent may be demanding more than you (and your clients by extension) are willing to pay.

Wages suck in Arizona in general, when I lived there they were operating at federal minimum wage standards.
Up here I pay about $650 after tax (single no dependents, for 24 hours per week.

Being an employee means exchanging hours for dollars. It's likely best to just give that number when looking for people to work for you.

The flip side would be employee saying "I expect $400 a day and will work some number of hours a day for it." You would likely ask how many hours, does that include travel? coffee break? lunch? Saw maintenance time?

Things are generally better with more information.
