Isa website so bad it’s embarrassing

The ISA’s website (treesaregood.org) is so bad I’m embarrassed when telling people that’s how they can verify my credential or locate other certified arborists.

The fastest I’ve ever got it to load is ~30 sec of “verifying you’re not a bot” and other times it literally never loads and just gets stuck in a loop. Also google identifies it as a risky site.

We pay them enough money, why can’t they fix it?

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

It is quite frustrating. I've given up being a member of the ISA, and no longer encourage others to do it because it's not worthwhile.

Half the companies in my area claimed to have certified arborist on staff, post it all over their website websites, but they are not, at least according to the ISA website. I've written several complaint letters to the ISA because they claim to care and enforce such things, but they have never even bothered to so much as respond to one letter.

I have the same problem with the website loading slowly, when it does work at all. It is quite cumbersome to use, and nobody wants to put up with that, especially these days.

I was at the Southern Chapter meeting this past week and Caitlin Pollihan was there touting the updates to the website. Someone who should look at it isn't. It frustrates the Crap out of me.

I just sent an email. Let’s see where that gets me,

I’m registered for exam eligibility and am currently studying and taking practice exams. Which I also find frustrating that they tell you the wrong answers but don’t tell you the correct selection and also don’t let you save any of the questions or past test results. Just me grumbling over here.

Took the first practice test blind and got a 74% so a good starting point I suppose. I haven’t completed my study guide all the way through yet, and have a few bmp booklets for tree inventory, TRA, and planting.

I disagree...I think they have done a great job advancing professional education of arboriculture. Historically, better than presently. But I think its necessary to have an organization leading that charge. I think ISA is that organization. However, the local components do it MUCH better than the international body.

TCIA has an essential role to play as well, but they are more safety and business while ISA has been stronger with science and practice.

They certainly need to to better protecting the Certified Arborist brand. Both use of the name and upholding of the Code of Ethics. But that would get expensive quickly.

But if they don't spend the effort to protect the certs, then the certs value will fade out of existence.
